Time to actually DO the basics.
I will try and make this brief.
First off I have not really been satisfied with what I have been doing. I spend many hours on one pic and I think it looks alright, but then I come across a rough sketch that someone has done in like 15min and it shows more emotion then mine I often have to wonder why. How can something someone does in a few minutes match or be better than what takes me many hours. Part of the problem is me (I'm not a fan of my art, I only see flaws), and part of the problem is I have no real training or ground to work up from, its all just slapped together.
I thought I was doing the right thing reading proper art-books and was doing well, until I looked at a short video of someone doing gesture drawings and found that the way I was doing it was not right. Reading a guide is one thing, seeing someone doing it is another.
Combine these two things together and I new it was time for a change. Rather than re-inventing the wheel or flailing about aimlessly I decided to scour the web for the best tutorials, guides and videos I could find and put together a path that was the best for me. (Before you ask, working full-time and not able to spend tons of money means any art-school is not an option ATM)
For 5 weeks or so I didn't even pick up the pen, let alone draw, just browsing the web and collecting and learning. Then in the last 4 weeks I started drawing again.
Best that I show rather than tell so here is what I have done in the last month.

It looks promising but only time will tell if it is what I need and if I am heading in the right direction.
Unfortunately for you guys it means full color epic pony pics are on hold for the foreseeable future (sorry). Most likely the main thing I'm am going to be posting are sketches like above.
Thanks for reading and I hope you guys stick with me though this.
